Celebrating Mother’s Day in Quarantine

(top left to right)  Grandma and Me; Mom and me; (bottom left to right) My Bunny & Me; Mom-In-Law and Me As we are all getting used to the “new normal”, staying home shouldn’t really stop us from showing our love and gratitude for the people we love. With each new day, calendar forwards without a change and occasions come on the defined time – unaware of the fact that we are under lockdown due to COVID-19. With the occasions falling on a calendar day, the only difference I find is that everything is home-bound instead of a fun-filled evening watching the most awaited blockbuster at Cineplex followed by dinner at your favorite restaurant or traveling to the nearby destination and spending a night at the lake-side hotel! But this shouldn’t stop the fun or stop you from celebrating and acknowledging the special days – Birthday, Anniversary, Festivals, and appreciation days such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day! Since 2020 is a special year, Mother’s Day celebration ...

The Beginning...

Hello & Welcome to my blog. Babiesnmii is my first blog where I hope to share my pregnancy, maternity and postpartum experiences with you. I wish I can walk with you through this beautiful journey and you can relate it with mine. I am a loved wife , a working woman and a mommy to a handsome little boy – Aarav.
I have always had a passion for writing. As a child, I scribbled poems about my papa, mummy and sister. As I grew older I got creative with my writing skills and explored writing short stories, speeches, poems, essays and a book! This blog is dedicated to my loving hubby Harsh - my motivator and pillar of support, my dad – Harin, who is a writer himself - my inspiration and of course my mom - Sapna, my parenting idol!!
It was 2:00 am when my pregnancy test showed "+"... it felt like the second-best moment of my life, the first being the destiny of meeting my better half! The feeling of me - as a “mommy-to-be” filled my little world with delight. My heart was pounding and eyes rolling with tears of joy; I was going to be a mother in 9 months! Holding the pregnancy test in my hand, I ran into the bedroom to wake my hubby and share the wonderful news! The complete moment is recreated in my mind as I write this. Those are the most mesmerizing and memorable moments of my life.
I am a memory-loving person – and I literally mean this. I still have my first notebook from nursery school that my parents put in my memory box. And so, this new journey that I was going to embark into was very very special to me. From the first day, I maintained my own little pregnancy journal to make all the funny, silly, memorable moments and also kept a memory box to collect special things through these nine months. It was then that I decided about starting my own blog. Well, it certainly took a bit longer to start writing, but finally it is here.
If you are a first-time parents-to-be, you are in the right place! I will be sharing my beautiful journey from the beginning of my pregnancy and delivery to postpartum and parenting. I am proud to write this blog as a mother and a working woman. I am representing many of you who are reading this blog at the moment.
This blog will serve as a platform for all the new parents-to-be to get their questions answered. I would love to hear your feedback and personal experiences on the subject. I hope you enjoy reading the blogs. Happy motherhood & parenting!

Baby Shower Guest Activities

A baby shower is your event at the same time you want to involve your guests in the celebration. At my shower, I had lots of activities planned for my guests to be involved into through the event. We played games, made speeches, took pictures, cut the cake and had lunch together. To know which games we played at the shower, ready my blog - Baby Shower Games . In addition to the shower games, there were a lot of other activities to keep our guests busy and collect memories for our little arrival.  1. Onesie and Diaper Messages I had put out a plain white onesie from my baby’s first shopping for the guests to write their messages or wishes on it. I pinned it on a hardboard and left a few markers for the guests. I planned to frame it and hang it in the nursery. To make it little funny, I put out a bunch of diapers for guests to write silly messages on them! What you need? Hardboard to pin the onesie  Onesie Diapers Few permanent markers 2. Filling the...

What to Pack in Hospital Bag?

As my due date neared, I always had questions like: “Did you decorate the nursery?” “Did you buy the car seat?” “Is your hospital bag ready?” Every time I faced these questions, I looked blankly at my hubby and we giggled – what do they mean when they say “is your hospital bag ready?” It sounded more like preparing for a vacation trip to Hawaii! But actually, this very common question really meant if I had packed my bags to bring to the hospital when I was in labor. I thought this would be an interesting read for first-time moms – just like me, who don’t know what actually should be packed. I packed 3 bags in total. A labor bag, a post-delivery bag, and a baby’s diaper bag. Each bag had supplies I would need at each stage during and after my delivery. Mom-to-be’s Labor Bag: In the labor and delivery ward, only a few supplies will be used – mainly personal items. All other supplies will be needed post-delivery. Here is all that I packed in my labor bag: Health Card ...

Sharing The News

After your engagement and wedding announcement, the most awaited news are about your pregnancy. When we found out I was pregnant, our conversation around sharing the news came up naturally. I had only returned back from my trip to India visiting family and friends. Just in a week my in-laws were flying in to stay with us for a few months. Everything happened at the right time.  My parents were very much concerned about my health as I had fallen ill with an upset stomach all through my 3 week trip to India. My father teased me by asking, when was I sharing the news of "Mindadu"- meaning my kitten? I called him just after I had my ultrasound and started our routine conversation. Then I threw the news at him by saying, "I have no stomach flu, its the kitten"! I could hear his happiest voice in my entire life. There was happiness on both sides of the phone. He broke the news to my mom while I was still on the phone. I could hear mom cry in joy. It was all magical an...
